OUR PHYSICIANS

Frank R. Laurri, MD, FACP

Dr. Frank Laurri has spent most of his life in Western New York. He went to public schools, graduating from Niagara Falls High School in 1977. He graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from Niagara University in 1981, and earned his M.D. degree from Weill-Cornell Medical School in 1985, and completed a residency in Internal Medicine at the SUNY @ Buffalo Medical School residency program in 1988.

Dr. Laurri is board certified in Internal Medicine and was successfully recertified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in 2013. He was elected to Fellowship in the American College of Physicians in 2013, a distinction earned by demonstrating excellence in his profession and and by contributions to the medical community in which he practices. Dr Laurri has served on numerous committees in the Catholic Health system, including President of the Medical Staff of Mount St Mary's Hospital, member of the Executive Committee of CHS, Medical Peer Review Committee of CHS, as well as the Lead Primary Physician of Catholic Medical Partners for Niagara County. Although he has been active in the medical community, practicing medicine through direct patient care has been his main love and main goal. He built his practice from a small office on Pine Avenue in Niagara Falls in 1989 to a multi physician group over the years by demonstrating excellence in patient care and thereby attracting other physicians whose main goal was excellence in the practice of medicine as well.

“Practicing medicine has taught me that patient care involves much more than knowing facts. I make a point, at each visit, to achieve at least two things-1-to alleviate the fear and anxiety that a patient may feel encountering the medical system. This fear is often what keeps patients from seeking care; and 2-to listen with respect and patience to my patients. A smile, a handshake, and sitting down with each patient at each visit often helps discover their concerns much more effectively than a random blood test.”

Dr. Laurri has been married to his wife Mia, an R.N who worked for many years in the practice before retiring after 17 years of being a nurse in the office. He has 3 children, 2 in the healthcare field. His son Frank is a nurse in the practice, his daughter, Dr Annemarie Bannister, practices Internal Medicine in the practice and his youngest daughter is a court stenographer in Buffalo, working for a local court reporting firm. Dr. Laurri's hobbies include history, especially Russian history, studying Medicine, including a love of the basic medical sciences, as well as staying in shape by sparring in the boxing ring as time permits, and as long as injuries remain rare.
